A competition and a New Year celebration in one event
CHRISTMAS SURPRISE brings together young performers, teachers and families for a festive international competition in Jūrmala. The event combines stage performances with a New Year atmosphere, gifts for participants, games, contests, prizes and a festive entertainment programme.
Competition Categories
Participants may enter one or more categories and nominations.
General Participation Rules
- Competition performance duration: up to 4 minutes.
- Theatre performance duration: up to 10 minutes.
- Backup dancers are permitted.
- A participant or group may enter several nominations.
- Technical requirements, microphones, stands and props must be agreed with the organisers in advance.
- Up to 30% of performers may belong to a younger or older age category.
Festival Program
The final timetable may be adjusted by the organisers depending on the number of applications.

Jury & Awards
Professional Jury
The jury is formed separately for the different competition disciplines and includes producers, teachers of specialised educational institutions, leaders of creative groups and cultural professionals from different countries.
Performances are evaluated on a 10-point scale.
Prizes
1st, 2nd and 3rd places are awarded in each nomination and age group. The Grand Prix may be awarded by decision of the jury.
All participants receive diplomas and commemorative gifts. Winners of 1st–3rd places receive trophies.
